Living Safely With Lead
University of Nebraska–Lincoln Extension in Douglas/Sarpy Counties is completing the second year of the "Living Safely With Lead" programming. This programming is especially pertinent in Omaha where a high percentage of children have tested positive for lead poisoning. MORE (.pdf file)

Education About Watersheds Protects Urban Lakes
The Omaha Metro Area Lakes were built primarily for flood control but their use for recreational activities has increased as the population has increased. These valuable metro lakes are impaired due to sediment and nutrient runoff pollution. Rainfall, melting snow and excess runoff water from our homes and streets carry sediment and other pollutants into storm drains. Extension serves as the catalyst to coordinate a joint educational effort by federal, state, district and local entities involved with storm water management in Omaha. MORE (.pdf file) |
Acreage Owners Turn to Extension for Know-How
A more recent addition to Nebraska's landscape is the development of residential acreages, especially surrounding the metro areas. Acreage owners turn to University of Nebraska Extension for information on a wide range of issues associated with "rural" living. MORE (.pdf file) |
