New 4-H Programs on Military Bases: A Friendly Connection
The University of Nebraska Cooperative Extension continually seeks to provide programs that meet the needs of area residents in an ever changing demographic. Recently, federal grant funding was awarded to Cooperative Extension in Douglas/Sarpy counties to start a new 4-H program on Offutt Air Force Base near Omaha. With the goal of creating on-base 4-H programs all across the nation, the federal government hopes to provide children a friendly and familiar connection when their families are deployed to different locations. By adapting existing 4-H programs, Extension Educators in Douglas/Sarpy coutinies quickly turned this idea into action on the Offutt base. MORE (.pdf file) |
